Who We Are
Jupiter Systems Company Limited (JS) is a consulting firm that works in Kenya’s Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL). The company was established in accordance with the Companies Act (CAP 486) of the Kenyan laws of 2012. The word Systems-in the company name- is derived from our systems approach to providing solutions, which we have extensively embraced in our projects. The company’s operations began in February 2013. The firm was founded by a group of female consultants who shared a common interest and dedication to contributing to development through project implementation, consultancy, and related services in the field of sustainable development.
Through the provision of high-quality and practical technical services in performance management, the firm’s overall focus is to respond to the ever-increasing need for sustainable and people-driven evidence-based solutions to problems of resilience, economic development, environmental management, and social equity in diverse sectors. With this in mind, our approach is founded on the tenet that solutions are typically discovered through investigation(s) of the problem itself and bringing experience and the body of knowledge to bear on the problem in search of solutions. We have worked hard to live up to our tagline – Improving Livelihoods and Strengthening Resilience in Agriculture and Rural Development in Africa through Sustainable Development Planning, Coordination, Collaboration, and Learning – since our inception. We are deeply committed to achieving agricultural transformation in Africa, and we believe that empowering African institutions to embrace learning, innovation, and change through the participation of youth and women, as well as improving communication between researchers and smallholder farmers, is critical to this transformation. We are motivated by impact and are deeply committed to bringing about change in African institutions and rural societies – from the household to the continental level – by improving people’s livelihoods.
We accomplish this through the use of participatory facilitated systems and design thinking approaches infused with collaboration and learning. Agriculture, Rural Development, Economic Planning, Food Security, Environment/Natural Resource Management, WASH/Community Health, Climate Change, Resilience, Institutional Development, Poverty Reduction, research, and International Development Assistance continue to be active areas of interest for us, primarily in Kenya’s ASAL contexts.
With diverse functional technical expertise and experience, the firm’s expansive network of partner organizations in both private and public sectors has accorded its development work the benefits of practical field experience and multi-level synergies. As a result, the firm is analytically competent in and is always at pace with cutting edge issues relating to joint work planning, institutional innovations, environment, economic development, social equity, and application of sector-wide approach (SWAp) and value chain approach to development support.
