Our leadership team

Experts in organizational development, knowledge management, communication, food systems, resilience, rural development, program design and management, economics, monitoring and evaluation, gender analysis, strategy development, machine learning in agriculture, agribusiness, and policy formulation comprise Jupiter Systems. We see ourselves as an Africa-based think tank that understands the African context, designs, and delivers high-quality, customized solutions to African agriculture and rural development challenges. EXPERT TEAM

Hillary T. Nyang’anga, Ph.D

CEO and Head of Technical Team

Hillary is the chief operations officer at JS and the lead technical expert. Hillary has experience in facilitation, capacity development, research, marketing, policy formulation, and implementation, strategy development, resilience, food systems among others. In the recent past, Hillary Nyanganga has verse experience working with USAID-funded projects. Most recently in 2021, he conducted a Baseline survey on the knowledge and use of Collaborative Learning and Adapting approaches (CLA) at the county level in Garissa, Wajir, Turkana, Marsabit, Isiolo, Samburu, Taita Taveta, Kitui, and Makueni. This assignment was done under USAID Resilience Learning Activity (RLA). Moreover, he also led the design and implementation of the CLA innovators course in ALL the PREG counties. The activity targeted Civil Society Organizations (CSO). This activity was also done under the RLA. As the CEO, Hillary is responsible for not only giving direction to the company in terms of product portfolio but also managing the operation, overseeing the financial management, and providing the technical backstopping. Hillary holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Information and Communication, A master’s in agricultural communication and knowledge management, and a bachelor of science in Agricultural Economics. Hillary is also a lecturer and consultant at the University of Nairobi.

Jessica Osanya

Head of Research

Jessica is an expert in research with bias in gender studies. She heads our research portfolio. She holds a Master of Science in Agriculture and Applied Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management

Dr. Brighton Marienga

Associate Expert Agribusiness and Veterinary Medicine

Brighton is an expert in agribusiness and Veterinary Medicine. He holds a Master’s in Agribusiness and a bachelor’s in Veterinary Medicine. He has wide experience in research, project design, management, facilitation, and strategy development among others

Sylvester Ojwang

Project Manager

Sylvester Ojwang’ has experience in program support. In 2021, he supported the implementation of the CLA innovators course in the PREG Counties under the RLA. Sylvester has African continent-wide experience in livestock resilience and climate change. In 2020, he was part of a team that conducted a stocktake of livestock resilience programs in Africa. This was commissioned by the Food and Agricultural organization of the United Nations (FAO), Africa Regional office. He holds a Master’s degree in Agriculture and Applied Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics.

Ms. Sheila Mbaru

Project officer

Sheila is a holder of a Master’s degree in development studies and a bachelor’s in nutrition and dietetics. She is well experienced in workshop logistics and coordination in addition to rapporteur. Sheila has worked with the Kenya girl guide association in various roles handling issues of gender. Some of the positions previously held include project coordinator and project officer.

Paul Joako

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

Paul has over 8 years of experience consulting for various USAID and EU projects in and outside the country. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in food science and has over the years developed knowledge and skill in M&E. Detailed CV is provided at the end of the document.

Kennedy Muluka

Finance and Administration

Kennedy is a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in commerce, with more than 5 years in finance and administration management. During this period and from his previous workplaces, he has gained experience through the management of grants and service contracts from USAID, EU, AGRA, McKnight Foundation among others.
